Increased demand in line with CDC report citing nearly one-third of US births are delivered via cesarean section
Orange County, Calif. – January 6, 2015 – Body After Baby today announced that demand for its C-section support belly band, the Sienna, is on the rise, with more than one-third of moms requesting C-section support. The increased interest in the company’s C-Section belly bands is in line with overall cesarean delivery statistics as reported by the Center for Disease Control (CDC). According to the CDC, nearly one-third of the 3.95 million US births this year were delivered via cesarean section. While this represents a slight decrease from 32.7% in 2013 compared to 32.8% in 2012, the overall rate of C-sections has steadily increased since 1990.
“If you are one of the roughly 1.29 million moms that will be recovering from a C-section, you will likely be looking for ways to quickly heal so you can focus on taking care of your new baby,” said Dr. Kim Goodwin, ObGYN, West Coast ObGYN in San Diego, CA. “Of course getting plenty of rest and following your doctor’s orders is critical, but C-section belly bands, such as Body After Baby’s Sienna can help make recovery more comfortable and can also aid in scar reduction.”
Compression garments or binders have historically been used by the medical community for wound healing and surgical recovery. The Sienna marries medically proven compression techniques for wound healing with a doctor recommended design exclusively focused on the needs of C-section moms.
“Recovering from a C-section requires a totally different approach than a vaginal delivery,” added Dr. Kim Goodwin, ObGYN, West Coast ObGYN in San Diego, CA. “The Body After Baby C-Section garment is the only postpartum support garment designed exclusively for C-section moms and have provided great relief and support for our patients.”
About the Sienna Post C-Section Belly Band
The Sienna Post C-Section Belly Band is unlike any other cesarean section recovery garment. With a seamless support panel over the wound site and breathable materials, the Sienna offers the comfort moms desire, while helping incisions heal more effectively and aiding in scar reduction. The Sienna reduces pain and swelling, stabilizes the incision site, and supports the abs and lower back. Of course, C-section recovery is the main goal, but the Sienna also supports the many body parts impacted by pregnancy including the abs, back, hips, and buttocks.
